Architecture High School Summer Program

Have you considered a career in architecture? High school students interested in the design professions are encouraged to join us at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation for ARCH150: Discovering Architecture, UMD’s three-week summer introduction to the built environment for high school students.

Discover an Exciting Career in Architecture
ARCH150: Discovering Architecture is a hands-on course designed to assist you in making an intelligent choice about a possible career in architecture. You will learn about careers in architecture, landscape architecture, and urban design planning. We'll introduce you to successful architects, take you on tours of architectural landmarks and teach you basic design principles that you will use to complete your own design project. It's a great way to try on a career before you start college.

Work in the School of Architecture
Get a taste of what it's like to be an architecture student. You will work on your own design projects in a design studio environment and interact with graduate architecture students.

Learn from Faculty and Design Professionals
This is a great opportunity to learn from some of the very best. University faculty teach the workshop, along with graduate students and other design experts familiar with the latest in architectural advancements. You will also learn how to prepare for design school admission.
