She is now working with Dr. Marccus Hendricks at the Resilient Infrastructure and Stormwater Equity (RISE) Lab. Before commencing her PhD Study, she did her masters in urban and regional planning at the University of Florida (2015) and Mechanical Design at the China Agricultural University, China (2013). Peng is broadly interested in environmental planning, specifically extreme weather adaptation planning, urban heat-health impact, transportation safety, and environmental justice, climate justice. During her masters, she tried to quantify the local cost of mitigating the damage caused by extreme coastal weather events (e.g., sea-level rise and storm surge). In the doctorate study, Peng has worked on analyzing the residents' attitudes toward different stormwater BMPs (best management practices). She also has worked on estimating the impact of changing travel behavior on public health under different scenarios using an Integrated Transport and Health Impact Modeling (ITHIM). Peng is now working as a research assistant with the NCSG members trying to estimate the health benefits of the trail system in Prince George's County. Miss Peng is also interested in doing synthesizing research integrating interdisciplinary knowledge and combine to the field of urban planning.
