About the program
SCANDINAVIA: Culture + Place is a visual analysis course that explores place-making in Finland. A central goal of the course is a study of the role that culture, geography, and history contribute to architectural form through the investigation of the built and natural environment. The program includes an extended stay in Helsinki, along with excursions to Tampere, Seinäjoki, Jyväskylä, Turku, and Rauma. Masterworks by Aalto, Saarinen, Holl, and others will be studied, drawn, and explored.
