The historic preservation studio of the University of Maryland's Historic Preservation program produced this Hyattsville Style Guide during the fall of 2009. This one-semester project was created at the request of the client, the Hyattsville Preservation Association.
The client wanted an educational resource for those living in the Hyattsville Historic District when planning addition or changes to their homes. Thus, the purpose of this guide is to provide residents with the best practices in regard to maintaining the historical integrity of their property. The document includes chapters on development history, a neighborhood portrait, architectural styles, maintenance, and sustainability; it also includes an extensive bibliography and appendices.
