A transformation of the east area of campus from the existing motor pools and storage ares to a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood that could serve future campus needs for residential, office and research space. Each plan strives to create an urban character and not an extension of a campus style spacial arrangement with large distances between buildings. The solutions also propose aggressively connecting these new part of campus to the existing street grid of College Park. While potentially politically sensitive, these connections bind the communities together and establish a sense of place for "town and gown" alike.
