Topical Design Studio

The Topical Design Studio (ARCH601) allows students to choose an architectural topic of personal interest from usually three or four offerings, and pursue that topic for a semester. Often, the Competition Studio, is one of the topics offered. Maryland has a rich tradition of excellence in winning competitions, especially the ACSA Wood Council Competition.  The Housing Studio is also offered frequently.  Students in the Housing Studio study housing types and urban settlements from single-family houses to apartment buildings, to live-work homes and other alternative dwellings.
