A 12-credit, four-course certificate (part time 1-2 courses per term) culminating in a Certificate granted by the Graduate School of the University of Maryland. Students without academic or work experience in real estate finance will be required to take at least one additional introductory course in finance as well as supplemental non-credit preparatory or concurrent training in financial tools.
The four standard courses cover the areas of finance, urban design, construction management and negotiations. Students may substitute or add a course in development law. Courses offered are courses offered as part of the MRED program.
Students may apply for the Master's of Real Estate Development program and transfer up to 12 credits (4 courses) from their Certificate coursework to their MRED degree if accepted to that program after completion of at least two Certificate courses.
Application is through the Graduate School with the same admission requirements as the MRED degree, except there is no GRE requirement. The Certificate Program is not open to International students.
