App Examples
Links to websites which demonstrate App Applications ranging from community data collection, fostering community engagement to visualizing community data. Their listing does not imply any endorsement or recommendation on my part or community sponsors. They are provided to give competitors ideas and possible resources for their own project. In some instances, source code is available. In other instances, the coding is fairly sophisticated, programmed by professional developers. In this case, we are presenting them to give you ideas of possible apps, not to challenge your coding skills. Others you want to share? Let me know. Questions, concerns, ideas, contact me.
New links (as of January 1, 2013) focused on App Development
The BigApp Competition (Examples from NYCs app development competition-Some pretty cool stuff)
Two apps (mentioned during presentation)
Code for America.I could not resist providing a link to J. Pahlka video (with examples) about Code for America:
Parks and Recreation
Trees and Walkability
Odds and Ends
App for Communities
Apps for Democracy, 2009
Apps for Development Applications using data from the World Bank
These are just some examples of some pretty sophisticated coding. I list them not to necessarily challenge your coding skills but to give you an idea of possible apps. They primarily represent professional app development.Deadlines
