Maria Beltren is originally from Madrid (Spain), Maria holds a degree in Architecture from the Polytechnic University CEU in Madrid. She studied her senior year abroad, in Aalto University in Helsinki (Finland). She later earned a Master of Science in Urban Planning and Design from the Royal University of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm (Sweden). She has worked as an architect in several fields of expertise and has taught Architecture studios at Polytechnic University CEU in Madrid. She is currently teaching a studio in Architecture at University of Maryland. Her research and practice interests focus on the design, representation and use of public space and how the activation and revitalization of public spaces brings social, economic, and environmental benefits to the city.
