Historic Preservation Admissions
Admission to the Historic Preservation program is competitive. The
general requirements of the graduate school must be fulfilled.
Graduate Admissions Eligibility
All applicants must have a bachelors degree from an accredited institution and a minimum grade-point average of 3.0. There is no restriction on the applicant's previous field of study, and indeed we encourage diversity in all senses.Graduate Admissions Application Requirements

- Academic Credentials: Submit one set of official academic transcripts from all institutions attended, including undergraduate and graduate work.
- Standardized Test Scores: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) general test scores; submitted scores must have been taken within the last five years.
- Statement of Goals, Research Interests, and Experiences: A 1000-2000 word statement of graduate goals, research interests, and experiences.
- Three Letters of Recommendation: Recommendations should be from teachers who are familiar with you and your work. Professional references are also accepted to fulfill one of the three required recommendations.
- Writing Sample: This can be previous academic work or professional work; it does not necessarily have to be related to historic preservation. It must be individual work; please submit reproductions, as this material is not returnable.
Certificate Admissions
Students wishing to pursue the Certificate must be admitted to a graduate program of the University. Applications take the form of a letter of purpose, letter of recommendation, and transcript of academic work. The letter should convey to the Committee the role of historic preservation in the student's proposed program of study, future plans, and interests. Applications are accepted on a continuing basis. In making its evaluation, the Committee will review relevant material in the Graduate School application, and, if appropriate, the applicant's previous studies and/or resume of professional experience. Interested persons are advised to consult in advance with the director of the Program.
