Nikhil Kaza is a postdoctoral fellow at the National Center for Smart Growth Education and Research at the University of Maryland. His graduate degrees are from the University of Illinois. He has a Ph.D. in Regional Planning. He is trained as a mathematician, an urban planner and as an architect.
Kaza works on vexing questions such as what plans ought to be and how they should be formulated and how such formulations affect the urban processes. These have led him simultaneously on intersecting and fruitful paths of inquiry into complex systems, optimisation, qualitative analysis, analytical reasoning, decision making under uncertainty and institutional structure.
