The School of Architecture, Planning, & Preservation at the University of Maryland will host eight lectures and a gallery talk this fall. Materiality, structure, and tectonics create the framework for the architectural lectures this fall, reinforced by technologically-rich exhibitions and events in the Kibel Gallery.
Marveling at the creative accomplishments of our presenters, we pose the question “What are the processes these designers go through as we trace their thoughts from inception to reality?” Each speaker has been selected for the significant contributions and richness in their work, and has been invited to reveal his or her experiences in the process of structuring the material environment. The architectural lectures are augmented by world-class presentations in urban design and environmental art. An increasing concern for sustainability appears in the form of the student-led Solar Decathlon 2007 entry (LEAFHouse) that highlights the semester's events.
All events are free and open to the public. AIA CES credits are available for all lectures. Directions to the School
