Potomac Valley AIA Announces
2008 Art + Architecture Contest Winners

Isabelle DeBonis (Kinder) - Cloverly Elementary School

The Potomac Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA PV) is pleased to announce the winners of its 2nd Annual Art + Architecture Contest. The competition was organized and coordinated by Peter Noonan, AIA, Professor of the Practice at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Professor Noonan reports that " This endeavor on my part combines my overlapping and broad interests of architecture, teaching, professional service, and public outreach.  It's a great way to introduce the importance of the built environment to a young community."

The AIA PV Architecture + Art Contest is open to any school age child in Maryland's Allegany, Frederick, Garret, Montgomery, Prince Georges, and Washington counties.  Student's original artwork, with architecture as a theme or subject matter, is judged by a panel of architects, artists, and art educators based on three criteria: interpretation of the theme, craftsmanship, and presentation.
