Installing a New Version of Adobe Acrobat


The following walkthrough will remedy the issue of Acrobat asking for a AdobeID upon execution. First, the version of Acrobat needs to be uninstalled. Type “acrobat uninstaller” within the Spotlight search (magnifying glass icon from the top right of the screen) without quotes. Select the entry with a visible icon.

Once the uninstaller is opened, select Adobe Acrobat Pro and hit Open.

On the next window, click on Uninstall

After the uninstaller completes, installation of the new Acrobat package can commence. The package can be retrieved from Open your favorite browser and copy/paste the following link to the package:

Click the log in button, which will take you to the UMD Central Authentication Service page. Use your university credentials to authenticate. Towards the bottom of the page, the package is available to download. Click on the link, which will start the download.

Once the download is finished, you can find it by navigating to your “Downloads” folder. Next, press and hold the Control key on your keyboard and click on the AdobeAcrobatXI.pkg. This will open a menu. Select Open from that menu.

Proceed with the installation by accepting the defaults and license agreement. The installer will ask for the computer credentials to move forward with the installation. Once this is completed, the application will be ready to use.
