Matthew Earls, PhD Student
Matthew Earls is a Ph.D. student in Urban and Regional Planning and Design. He holds a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Michigan State University (2011) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and German from the University of Michigan (2008). Matthew currently works for the UMD - Morgan State University Center for Economic Development as a graduate research assistant and contributes to the Center's efforts to model innovation networks in the state of Maryland. Some of Matthew's research interests include economic development in distressed communities, housing and structural abandonment, and temporary use/pop-up urbanism. Upon completion the Ph.D. program, Matthew would like to teach and advance planning research and knowledge in a university setting.
