Basheer Saeed is an international student from Kurdistan, Iraq. In a world of potential urban studies programs, Maryland?s Ph.D. program in urban planning and design was Basheer?s first choice. ?UMD has a great geographic location in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area with its international resources and diverse population.

With my interests in land use planning and transportation, the urban planning program offers a variety of fields and courses?as well as stellar research hubs like the National Center for Smart Growth?that give you the chance to compose the direction of your own study interest.
