The architecture program has certain endowed and annual scholarships that recognize extraordinary academic achievements of students. These merit scholarship funds are available on a competitive basis and are available to continuing students in the Architecture Program.

If you have questions about how to apply for a Merit Scholarship, please direct them to Brian Kelly prior to March 7, 2014.  All questions will be addressed in the weekly Advising Newsletter.  Please note, completed applications should be emailed to ARCHforms@umd.edu prior to the posted deadline.

 

Funds from the following endowments and annual funds may be used in conjunction with merit scholarships:

 

GTM Architects Scholarship Fund

Funds support student scholarship in the Architecture Program.

 

Architecture Undergraduate Scholarship

This fund has been established to expand the available scholarships for Architecture Undergraduate Student and provides support that can offset the financial burden of today’s college expenses.

 

Architecture Graduate Scholarship

This fund has been established to expand the available scholarships for Architecture Graduate Students, and provides support that can offset the financial burden of today’s college expenses.

 

Glenn Birx Endowed Scholarship in Architecture

The purpose of this fund is to provide annual need-based scholarships, under the auspices of the TerpStart Matching Scholarship Program, for undergraduate architecture students enrolled in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

 

William J. Bonstra Scholarship

The purpose of this fund is to provide annual need-based scholarships, under the auspices of the TerpStart Matching Scholarship Program, for undergraduate students enrolled in the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

 

Architecture Dean’s Scholarship Fund

Funds are available to students in all programs of the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation and are given at the discretion of the Dean and the scholarship committee.

 

School of Architecture Scholarship Fund

Established in December 1989 by the School’s Alumni Chapter, funds provide scholarship support to outstanding graduates of the School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation who are pursuing post-baccalaureate work at UMD.

 

AIA Potomac Valley Foundation Scholarships

These scholarships are made possible through direct contributions from local architects and the AIA Potomac Valley chapter, as well as the AIA Component Matching Grant program.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this category of scholarship students must:

  • be a student in good standing in the Architecture Program;
  • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Master of Architecture, or Master of Science in Architecture program during the upcoming fall semester;
  • have minimally completed either ARCH 401 or ARCH 405 by the end of the spring semester in which applications are solicited.
