Al Rubeling is a native of Baltimore County, Maryland. After five-years in practice, he formed his own architectural firm in 1981. Over the years, Al was appointed to the Maryland State Board of Architects and the Baltimore County Architectural Review Board. He is past president of the Essex Community College Foundation, and past member of the Leadership Baltimore County and Baltimore Foundation of Architecture. In 1993, the AIA elevated him to one of its highest honors in the College of Fellows. He has served on the National Board of Directors and as a Trustee of the National AIA Trust. He is the 2007 recipient of The Leslie N. Boney Spirit of Fellowship Award. He currently serves as Secretary of the College of Fellows. Al’s book, “How to Start and Operate Your Own Design Firm,” was published in 1994 and 2007.
