Directions

DRIVING from Maryland and Northern Virginia

1. From the DC Beltway (I-495), take exit 28B/Route 650 South (New Hampshire Avenue) toward Takoma Park.
2. At the second traffic light on New Hampshire Avenue (comes up quickly) turn left onto Adelphi Road.
3. Stay on Adelphi Road to University Boulevard (MD 193).
4. Immediately after going through the MD-193 intersection, get into the left turning lane.
5. Turn left at the light onto Campus Drive (UMUC/Marriott is on your left).
6. Stay on Campus Drive until you reach the traffic circle.
7. Before 4 p.m.: Turn right at the circle for hourly paid parking in Mowatt Garage. After 4 p.m.: Turn left at the circle for free parking in Lot 1. (Note: Read signs carefully to avoid being ticketed.)
8. The School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation is at the corner of Campus and Mowatt Drives. There are three 30-minute metered spaces in the school's lot for short-term visitors.

DRIVING from DC

1. Go north on North Capitol Street (from the Capitol or the 3rd Street Tunnel).
2. Take the access side street off North Capitol immediately before the intersection with Rhode Island Avenue (Route 1).
3. Take Rhode Island Avenue north through DC to the Maryland line (about 5 miles).
4. Just before you reach downtown College Park, turn left onto Guilford Road.
5. Guilford Road takes a right-hand jog before becoming Mowatt Lane (no street sign).
6. Continue on Mowatt Lane onto the campus.
7. Before 4 p.m.: The Mowatt Garage is the first large building on the right side of Mowatt Lane. Enter the garage for paid parking. After 4 p.m.: Stay on Mowatt Lane until the traffic circle. Proceed straight through the circle and enter Lot 1 for free parking. (Note: Read signs carefully to avoid being ticketed.)
8. The School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation is at the corner of Campus and Mowatt Drives. There are three 30-minute metered spaces in the school's lot for short-term visitors.

PARKING

Paid parking
Turn right at the circle and drive past the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation and the Smith Business School. You will reach the Mowatt Garage on your left, which has covered parking for $2 per hour or $10 per day.

Free parking (after 4 p.m. only)
Turn left at the circle and enter Lot 1. Read signs carefully. You will be ticketed if you park in Lot 1 without a permit before 4 p.m.

WALKING from the Marriott at UMUC or your parking space

From the Marriott at UMUC
Go out the main entrance and take a left onto Campus Drive. Walk to the traffic circle and continue straight through the circle on Campus Drive. The Architecture Building is the first building on the right. Walk across the bridge into the Architecture Building and take the stairs down to the first floor, where the Auditorium and Gallery are located.

From Lot 1
Walk back to the traffic circle and take a left onto Campus Drive. The Architecture Building is the first building on the right. Walk across the bridge into the Architecture Building and take the stairs down to the first floor, where the Auditorium and Gallery are located.

From Mowatt Garage
Take the Mowatt Road sidewalk toward the traffic circle (you will pass the Smith School of Business). The Architecture Building is on the right just before the traffic circle. Enter the double doors directly into the Auditorium and Gallery Foyer.
