Urban Design Studio

The Urban Design Studio (ARCH 700) focuses on the relationship between architecture and urbanism. Students explore both the theory and practice of urban design through several excercises and projects at a variety of scales, from the scale of a the individual lot, or block, to the neighborhood and region. Maryland is known for its strength in urban design, and the Architecture Program and the Urban Studies and Planning Program together in the same school offer students a plethora of resources, classes, and faculty to explore urban design.
